Hanshi’s Beiju Celebration

Hanshi Robert Scaglione in Northfield, 2012

The head of our Ueshiro Shorin Ryu Karate (USRK) organization, Hanshi Robert Scaglione, Ju Dan, celebrates his 88th birthday this October. In Japanese and Okinawan culture, the 88th birthday, or Beiju (米寿), holds special significance — not just for longevity, but as a symbol of abundance and prosperity.

This fall, USRK will celebrate Hanshi Scaglione and his decades of leadership with a weekend of Karate and friendship, gathering in Florida from October 15-19. Ask the Shihan for details if you are interested.
